Tripping Haze Ceremony
Tripping Haze Ceremony — Full-Length Album, CD

Malaysian stoner/doom trio Tripping Haze Ceremony (THC) unleashed their self-titled debut album in November 2020, marking a significant arrival into the global doom metal scene. The album was recorded live at Ruang Irama and mixed/mastered by Rotten Garage, capturing the raw energy and authenticity of their sound.

THC's debut is a homage to classic stoner doom, drawing inspiration from pioneers like Black Sabbath and Electric Wizard. The album opens with "Sativa’s Trip," a brief yet potent introduction that sets the tone for the heavy, fuzz-laden journey ahead. Tracks like "Panhead Dreams" and "Big Red Machine" showcase the band's ability to blend heavy blues licks with melancholic undertones, creating a sound that's both nostalgic and fresh.

A standout moment is their haunting cover of "Ratapan Anak" by Mona Fendi, a Malaysian pop singer infamous for her criminal notoriety. THC transforms the original into a somber, folk-infused piece that adds depth and cultural context to the album. The album's artwork, designed by Fugigaz, complements its vintage horror aesthetic, further immersing listeners in THC's sonic world.

Tripping Haze Ceremony is Epulyard (Guitar/ Vocals), Sara (Bass) and Lim Fugigaz (Drums). The trio's chemistry is evident throughout the album, with each member contributing to the cohesive and immersive soundscape.

Tripping Haze Ceremony's debut album is a compelling addition to the stoner doom genre, offering a blend of heavy riffs, cultural nuances, and atmospheric depth. Their ability to infuse traditional doom elements with unique local influences sets them apart, making this album a must-listen for enthusiasts of the genre.
